Arkansas designated the quartz crystal as the official state Mineral in 1967. Mined in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas, quartz crystals are used in computers and sold to tourists. Though nicknamed "Arkansas diamonds," quartz crystals are not true diamonds. |
