The Iowa Quarter

The U.S. Mint's bicentennial commemorative quarter for Iowa features Grant Wood’s “Arbor Day” painting of a one-room schoolhouse with teacher and students planting a tree, and the caption; "Foundation in Education." Grant Wood (1891-1942) was a native Iowan artist known for depicting the rural American Midwest. Iowa became the 29th state in 1846. All State Quarters
