Official State Sweetener of Maine

Pure Maine maple syrup was designated the official state sweetener of Maine in 2015. Maine's Somerset County is the largest maple-producing county in the United States (maple is also the "state flavor" of Vermont). All State Food Symbols

Pure maple syrup is a delicacy drizzled on waffles, French toast, pancakes, baked squash, apple crisp, or in a cup of tea. The fourth Sunday in March is "Maple Sunday" in Maine, celebrated each year as a rite of spring.
