Official State Litter-Control Mascot of New Mexico
Dusty Roadrunner is New Mexico's official clean-up mascot. Created in 1964, Dusty has made appearances in elementary schools across the state (the greater roadrunner is also New Mexico's state bird).
"Dusty has made an impact on New Mexicans and continues to do so by promoting community stewardship through litter-free and beautified landscapes. His message is timeless and is an important part of conserving and protecting our unique Land of Enchantment" (quote from Keep New Mexico Beautiful).
