Scotts Bluff National Monument

The National Park Service protects 3,000 acres in Nebraska at Scotts Bluff National Monument. Scotts Bluff towers 800 feet above the North Platte river and has served as a prominent landmark for native Americans, pioneers on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails, the Pony Express, and still for travelers today. The park is rich with geological, paleontological, and human history.

Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail

The Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi administers the 450-mile Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail.

The foot trail between Natchez, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee that became known as the Natchez Trace was traveled by farmers, diplomats, ladies, bandits, soldiers and slaves. Today, five separate trails totaling over 60 miles allow visitors to experience stunning landscapes, history, and culture.

The National Park Service preserves historic Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. The star-shaped fort's defense of the city during the Battle of Baltimore (September 13-14, 1814) inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star-Spangled Banner," our National Anthem.
