Oregon Sunstone

Official State Gemstone of Oregon

The Oregon sunstone was designated the state's official gemstone in 1987. All State Gems & Gemstones

Pear

Official State Fruit of Oregon

Pears are the top-selling tree fruit crop in Oregon. Pears grow particularly well in the Rogue River Valley and along the Columbia River near Mt. Hood.

Milk

Official State Beverage of Oregon

Milk was designated the official state beverage of Oregon in 1997, recognizing the production of milk and dairy products as major contributors to the economic well-being of Oregon agriculture. All State Foods &  Beverages

The Oregon Bluebook says; "Tillamook County has long been known for its dairy farms and now Morrow County has seen growth in the number and size of its dairy operations."

Official State Song of Oregon

"Oregon, My Oregon" (lyrics by J.A. Buchanan of Astoria and music by Henry B. Murtagh of Portland) won a statewide competition to select a state song sponsored by the Society of Oregon Composers in 1920; it was designated the official state song of Oregon in 1927. All State Songs

Beaver

Official State Animal of Oregon

Oregon designated the beaver (Castor canadensis) as the official state animal in 1969. All State Animals

A beaver appears on the reverse of the state flag, and Oregon's nickname is The Beaver State (stemming from the early 19th century when fur hats were fashionable and Oregon’s streams were an important source of beaver).
