Official State Vessel of Maine

The arctic exploration schooner "Bowdoin" was designated the official state vessel in 1987. All State Vessels & Aircraft

The schooner Bowdoin was built during the winter of 1920-21 in East Boothbay, Maine, according to  detailed specifications of Admiral Donald MacMillan. The Bowdoin has made nearly 30 voyages to the ice-jammed waters of the arctic.

Crescent Park Looff Carousel

The Charles I.D. Looff Carousel (also known as the Crescent Park Carousel) was designated the Rhode Island state symbol of American folk art in 1985. All Arts & Drama Symbols

All that remains of a large Victorian-era amusement park, the Looff Carousel is one of the few handmade carousels still in use today. It was designed and built in 1895 by Charles I.D. Looff, a native of Denmark.

Switzer Covered Bridge

Official State Covered Bridge of Kentucky

Historic Switzer covered bridge over North Elkhorn Creek in Franklin County was designated the official state covered bridge of Kentucky in 1998. All Kentucky Symbols

Built about 1855 and restored in 1906, the Switzer bridge closed to traffic in 1954. It was again restored in 1997 after a flood swept the bridge off its foundation.

The Switzer covered bridge was posted to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 (NRHP Structure #74000875).
