Black Walnut

Official State Tree Nut of Missouri

Missouri designated the nut of the eastern black walnut tree (juglans nigra) as the official state nut in 1990. All State Foods and beverages

The black walnut (also called American walnut) is native to eastern North America, growing mostly alongside rivers. The black walnut is a deciduous tree with grey-black, deeply furrowed bark and is considered very high quality wood.

Bowenite

Official State Mineral of Rhode Island

Rhode Island designated bowenite as the official state mineral in 1966. Bowenite is closely related to jade and can be considered a semi-precious gemstone.

Smallmouth Bass
